EMBER REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT & DEVELOPMENT BREAKS GROUND ON THE SUNDANCER AMENITY COMPLEX, THE PERFECT PLACE TO GATHER AND WATCH SUNSETS AT THE GRAND PRAIRIE
The 6.3-acre amenity complex is slated to grand open in Fall 2025
HOUSTON, TX – March 12, 2025
EMBER Real Estate Investment & Development, announced the groundbreaking of The Sundancer, a 6,700-square-foot building that serves as the focal point for six acres of recreational attractions for residents of The Grand Prairie, a nationally recognized master-planned community in Hockley, Texas. With its unique architecture and floor-to-ceiling windows oriented towards the best views of majestic sunsets at The Grand Prairie, The Sundancer is the centerpiece of the community’s first amenity complex and includes a family swimming pool, an adult swimming pool, a splash park, a children’s playground with climbing towers and a zip-line, as well as open green spaces.
Featuring multiple lakes, many are available for recreational use, offering kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing. Miles of interconnected trails and 450 acres of parks are also among The Grand Prairie’s leisure attractions. The Sundancer is being constructed on a prime elevation that provides scenic views of Lake Ember, its signature 70-acre lake, and The Overlook, a 40-foot hill featuring a circular trail and viewpoint. The Sundancer name is inspired by the vivid colors that “dance” on the lake waters as the sun sets.
“We started this community with a focus on amenities that were designed to showcase the simple beauty of nature,” said Harry Masterson, principal, EMBER Real Estate Investment & Development. “We wanted people to enjoy the open spaces, lakes, places to run, and the view from The Overlook. You just can’t compete with the sunset. At The Grand Prairie, nature is the canvas, and that canvas changes every day.”
Planned as a community gathering place, The Sundancer is an inviting destination where residents are welcome to lounge, work or enjoy a cup of coffee with neighbors. The building also plans to include a kitchen and banquet set up, ideal for community and private events,
“The Grand Prairie warranted a bold design that served as a beacon in the middle of this prairie without looking out of place,” said Masterson,. “We wanted the materials and style to be appropriate for the prairie, leaning on the history and the surroundings. The design echoes the prairie’s vast expanses of grasses, with islands of trees, and gives a tip of the hat to the sunset.”
Overland Partners is the architect and Clark Condon & Associates is the landscape architect. The building is being constructed by Millis Development and Construction. The grand opening of The Sundancer amenity complex is slated for Fall 2025, although some of its planned amenities are scheduled to open sooner.
The focus on amenities, along with an appealing array of home styles and prices, landed The Grand Prairie on two prestigious 2024 lists of the nation’s 50 Top Selling Master Planned Communities, published by independent industry experts John Burns Research and Consulting and RCLCO Real Estate Consulting[SF1] . The community’s appeal has also been recognized by the Houston Business Journal, which included it on its 2024 list of top master planned communities[SF2] . For a first-year community, these rankings are especially noteworthy.
Comfortably located off the beaten path, yet minutes to a variety of conveniences, The Grand Prairie is six miles west of the Grand Parkway and one mile south of US 290. It is located within the renowned Waller Independent School District. Homes are priced from the mid $200,000s to more than $600,000, with a variety of styles and floor plans offered by six esteemed builders including David Weekley Homes, Lennar, Perry Homes, Sitterle Homes, Village Builders and Westin Homes.
When fully complete, The Grand Prairie community will include about 6,000 homes on 1,700 acres.
